BIOGRAPHY
Ashley Broshious is the founder of The Sommelier Institute and one of the most sought-after wine educators in the country. She holds a WSET Level 3 award and the Certified Wine Specialist (CWS) credential, and is currently a WSET Diploma candidate. Her career spans kitchens helmed by Eric Ripert, Traci Des Jardins, Chris Cosentino, and Charlie Palmer, giving her both technical mastery and real-world floor experience she brings to every student she teaches.
She developed the proprietary deductive tasting methodology used across all TSI courses, and helped hundreds of students. For over a decade, she has coached hospitality professionals through the sommelier certification process. Work that's given her a clear-eyed view of what traditional programs get right, and where they leave students underprepared. She currently teaches at the Commonwealth Wine School and the Culinary Institute of Charleston.
Ashley didn't set out to build an institution: she set out to make wine make sense.
After years working the floor, building wine programs, and coaching hospitality professionals through the notoriously opaque world of sommelier certification, she saw the same problem over and over: talented, hardworking people were being locked out of an industry that claimed to want them in it. Gatekept information. Outdated hierarchies. Education that tested memorization instead of the skills that actually make someone great at the job.
So she built something different.
The Sommelier Institute is the education Ashley wished existed when she was coming up. One built on transparency instead of gatekeeping, and on the real, working knowledge sommeliers need on the floor, not just on an exam.
Every course, every certification level, and every resource is designed around a simple belief: wine knowledge shouldn't be a privilege, and a good education should leave you feeling ready, not intimidated.
Today, Ashley works with restaurant professionals just starting out, hospitality veterans stepping into bigger roles, and lifelong wine lovers turning their passion into a career — meeting every one of them exactly where they are.
